I hate to complain. Overall, it’s a good thing that more people are choose to bike instead of drive, but the increase in bicycles has had its downside as well.

The most irksome, and common, downside has been people on bikes going the wrong way down the sidewalk, usually wearing headphones, and occasionally talking on cell phones.

Yesterday on my commute home, I was nearly struck - twice - by such cyclists while i waited at stop signs for traffic to clear. With the increase in people travelling by bike comes an increase in those who apparently don’t expect to see other bikes, especially those who are following the rules of the road.

Has the increase in inexperienced cyclists created any problems for you?
