I recently added some old aero bars I had laying around to the flat bars on my commuter bike. While they’ll probably do little or nothing to reduce wind resistance or increase speed on a bike with 35mm tires, fenders, and 20 pounds of junk stuffed into the panniers, they do provide extra hand positions and the opportunity to stretch out my back and shoulders when i’m on the bike for a long period of time.

I admit they look a little weird, but they don’t get in the way of anything, and the extra positions are welcome when riding more than 10 miles.
